God Sees You, Pastor

I’ve had the privilege of having numerous conversations with pastors since the pandemic began. When I ask how they’re doing, usually they sigh. Sometimes they pinch their eyes closed before answering, as they struggle to put into words the new and various challenges this strange time has presented.

I get it. This has been a challenging time for church leaders. From learning new technologies to communicate with their churches, to navigating issues of reopening that have become terribly politicized, to dealing with the fallout of people in their churches getting sick and dying—not to mention the interpersonal and psychological problems the pandemic has surfaced—it’s been anything but easy.

That’s why I was grateful to read His Eye Is on the Pastors. In this encouraging piece, Dennis Edwards assures pastors that their toil during this time has not gone unnoticed. “Pastors, we see your love for God and for God’s people.” If you’re a pastor, this reflection will feel like a drinking a cool glass of water after a long run. Speaking of running, make sure you don’t get burned out during this unusual time. Our resource on Energy & Enthusiasm will help you find ways to slow down and recharge.
