Lawsuit argues Facebook should give users more control over their feeds
| Meta is sued by academic researcher regarding add-ons
| Researcher Ethan Zuckerman has filed a lawsuit against Meta, Facebook's parent company, arguing that blocking users from using tools like add-ons to control their feeds is against U.S. law. Zuckerman has developed a browser extension called Unfollow Everything 2.0 that allows users to easily unfollow users and pages. It's the successor to a similar tool that resulted in its developer being permanently banned. The lawsuit could not only help give users more control over their feeds, but also help researchers understand the algorithms used by social networks and how they effect their users, Wired reports. | |

Google Phone introduces bizarre new audio emoji feature
| Does anyone want sound bites for their phone calls?
| The Google Phone app is introducing a puzzling new feature called "Audio Emoji," which plays sound effects linked to six different emoji. The emoji include clapping, crying, and poop, and they seem to have the potential to be deeply annoying. The feature is being rolled out to some users, according to 9to5Google, and can be accessed from the latest Google Phone update in the beta channel, which is version 128. | |
