| | TechRepublic | Yesterday, Google kicked off the first keynote for its 2018 Google Cloud Next conference, announcing new partnerships, tools, technologies, and more to build out its ecosystem. Their announcements touched on three key themes: Artificial intelligence (AI), developers, and unified cloud. Google is extending more AI expertise into G Suite (including an AI-powered grammar correction tool in Google Docs!). Google AI chief scientist Fei-Fei Li detailed new products and enhancements aimed at helping developers do more with their data. And Google also unveiled the Cloud Services Platform, a family of cloud services. | | BetaNews | A new report from security awareness training company KnowBe4 looks at the most successful phishing emails in the second quarter of 2018. The results show that hackers are playing into users' commitment to security by using clever subject lines that deal with passwords or security alerts. | | PCWorld | Google’s taking a more aggressive role in encouraging websites to encrypt their connections to protect user data. Chrome 68 started rolling out yesterday, and the browser update labels any site that isn’t using HTTPS with a valid certificate as “Not secure” in the address bar. Previous versions of Chrome took a more positive angle, giving encrypted websites a green “secured” lock icon. Chrome 68’s “Not secure” warning does not mean you’ve been hacked — but it does mean your traffic isn’t protected, so it could be hacked. | | TechTarget | In Part One of this fantastic Q&A with our CEO, David Politis, he discusses why SaaS security has become such big news and how enterprises can take control of these cloud misconfigurations in order to protect data. Cloud misconfigurations have reached a point where sensitive data can't be protected with manual control, and part of the issue is too many admins. |

It will help G Suite admins and security analysts identify, triage, and remediate security threats within their organization. This tool builds on the existing capabilities in the security center to help admins identify security issues within the domain using advanced search capability; triage threats targeting users, devices, or data; and take bulk actions to limit the propagation and impact of threats. | | G Suite Updates | Google is making it possible for G Suite Business, Enterprise, and Enterprise for Education customers to designate the region in which primary data for select G Suite apps is stored when at rest — globally, in the US, or in Europe. | | G Suite Updates | Google is introducing grammar suggestions in Google Docs along with a revamped interface for spelling and grammar review. The new features build on the existing spell check functionality to also highlight possible grammar errors in your text and help you correct them. These features will initially launch as an Early Adopter Program (EAP). |
