PCWorld | Google has quietly acquired Neverware, a developer that can take an old Mac or PC and essentially retrofit it into a Chromebook via its CloudReady technology. Adding Neverware is a powerful addition for Google's ChromeOS team, which had previously invested in the technology. Neverware offers three editions of CloudReady, including a free Home edition that Neverware said won't go away. |

The Verge | Firefox’s latest update brings native support for Macs that run on Apple’s Arm-based silicon, Mozilla announced on Tuesday. Mozilla claims that native Apple silicon support brings significant performance improvements: the browser apparently launches 2.5 times faster and web apps are twice as responsive than they were on the previous version of Firefox, which wasn’t native to Apple’s chips. |

Ars Technica | Google has been having a rough time this week with service outages. It has now had two days, maybe even three days depending on who you ask, of major downtime. Google's Gmail status dashboard says any problems were resolved yesterday (12/15) just before 10pm ET, but this morning there are still reports of disrupted service in the comments on DownDetector. |
