Dayton pushes lawmakers again to open MinnesotaCare to all
Under Dayton's plan, those wishing to buy in would pay for the full cost of the health insurance. Even with that, Dayton said Minnesotans could save a lot money if a MinnesotaCare option were available to everyone. The state, he added, could operate an insurance plan for less money than private insurers.
State lawmakers probe details of 3M settlement
After legal fees and other expenses are paid, the state will get $720 million for clean drinking water and natural resource projects. ICYMI: I-35W weekend closures on tap for early March in Minneapolis
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says it needs to close stretches of Interstate 35W in Minneapolis in early March. The closures are part of MnDOT's Downtown to Crosstown project and will include a full weekend closure of Interstate 35W, the five-month closure of the 38th Street bridge and the long-term closure of the 36th Street ramp to southbound I-35W. Flu claims the life of another child in Minnesota

Rep. Ellison meets with Minneapolis students to discuss gun violence
Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., met with hundreds of Minneapolis high school students Thursday, after some students across the district staged a walkout over gun violence. The school shooting in Parkland, Fla. , on Feb. 14 inspired hundreds of students across the country to walk out of school during the last week to call on Congress to enact stricter gun control laws.
Minnesota cops seize more meth, prescription pills in 2017
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety said Thursday that more than 214,000 prescription pills were seized by drug and gang investigators in 2017. That's up from nearly 59,000 pills in 2016. 
Metsa joins the rush to replace Nolan in Minnesota's 8th
Democratic state Rep. Jason Metsa is entering the race to replace Rep. Rick Nolan in Congress.
Metsa announced his campaign Thursday for northeastern Minnesota's massive 8th Congressional District. The third-term lawmaker is just the latest Democrat to enter the race since Nolan announced last month he won't seek re-election.
