Happy Pioneer Day! I hope you have a fun, relaxing holiday spent with family and friends, no matter how you celebrate. For the holiday, it's no doubt that many folks will be gathering around a spread of tasty food. Just in case you have a craving for some cheesy deliciousness, take a look at this guide to making a Utah staple: funeral potatoes.
Got a Utah accent? The way you talk could be your pioneer heritage
A linguistics professor from Brigham Young University, David Eddington, recently published his book on the Beehive State's peculiar language.
In his book, titled “Utahisms: Unique Expressions, Inventions, Place Names, & More,” Eddington explores the roots of the quintessential idiosyncrasies of Utahns' way of speaking — from the pronunciation, or lack thereof, of the "t" in mountain, to the term “potato bugs."
The Jan. 6 committee held its final hearing on Thursday, ending the hearing series that has spanned several weeks throughout June and July. The eventful session featured witness testimony and outtakes from former President Donald Trump’s recorded statement about the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.
With Rep. Liz Cheney's opening statement and the panel's past hints, it seems that there may be more hearings in the panel's future. But looking back, it's important to consider what the committee has accomplished so far. Has their investigation had an effect on the public?
