Good afternoon! It's Monday, May 8, and today's headlines include a church prayer vigil for the Allen, Texas, shooting victims, Anheuser-Busch downplaying the Dylan Mulvaney controversy, and the rescue of two Chibok schoolgirls after nearly a decade in captivity.

Hundreds of residents, law enforcement and elected officials gathered at Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas, on Sunday to pray for the families of those who lost loved ones in a shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday. Among those in attendance were Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and more than two dozen other elected officials. After the crowd rose to its feet in a standing ovation
for the first responders at the scene, several speakers took to the stage to offer prayers of hope, comfort and love.
|
The gunman killed eight people and injured seven others before being fatally shot by police. Allen Mayor Ken Fulk, who said the shooting continues to be an "ongoing investigation," urged those in attendance to pray for the city, saying, "We’re proud to call Allen home. Allen is full of kind and compassionate citizens. We are in shock and are all grieving together." Full Story.
