Jeff Landry hold the line against the groups lobbying legislators to knock the revenue-raising measures they dislike out of his complicated tax swap? If Landry can’t, he won’t raise enough money to pay for the tax cuts that most legislators seem to favor, or he’ll have to lower income tax rates by less than he’d like. Dexter Cormier Jr. had a smile for everyone he met. A basketball standout, the 35-year-old also had a talent for business. And he rearranged his life to take care of his ailing father. That all stopped on Oct. 20 when he was shot and killed on Greenwell Springs Road as Southern University's homecoming weekend was coming to a close.
