Governor announces state of emergency following tornadoes

The declaration allows an emergency operations plan to go into effect after a tornado touched down in Seneca and Clemson early Monday morning, and could open up affected businesses to storm-related SBA disaster assistance. 

Unemployment claims top 87,600 in week

More than 87,600 people filed for unemployment in South Carolina for the week ending April 11. Greenville County saw 10,378 claims filed, while Spartanburg County saw 7,258.
