Governor's inauguration now Sunday

BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer

Louisiana's climate has become an issue for Gov.-elect Jeff Landry, and he hasn't even taken office yet.

Landry had been set to be sworn in as the state's 57th governor on Monday. But a forecast that includes severe weather that day has forced a quick change of plans.

Instead, he and other state officials will be sworn in at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in a ceremony on the front steps of the State Capitol in Baton Rouge.

LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey says guard Flau’jae Johnson has matured and become more comfortable on the court. And it shows.

The sophomore had her best outing of the season.

The Plant Barn, which opened its doors in late 2022, is filled with repurposed materials, including a cast-iron lamppost, ex-LSU bleachers and even, in its upstairs office, a vintage couch. Many of the most prominent leftovers came from a church that previously stood on the site.

The store stocks a wide variety of gardening store fare, including plants and trees of different kinds.
