A man jumping from the gallery into the chamber at Parliament House was on the front page of The Canberra Times on this day 61 years ago. He had driven to Parliament in an old model car, which he had left outside the building with the engine running and the lights on. After taking off his shoes, he dropped 20 feet from the gallery, landed with "extraordinary agility" and moved towards the mace, startling an attendant on guard during the dinner recess.  READ MORE
