Minneapolis Unrest Manifests Online

The city of Minneapolis, where George Floyd lost his life at the hands of police last week, was targeted in a cyberattack that impacted several city websites and systems. Unemployment Money Attracts International Crime Ring

Out-of-work Americans aren’t the only ones logging an unprecedented amount of interactions with state unemployment systems. The Nigeria-based “Scattered Canary” hacking group is behind attempts seen across the country to access the flood of federal monies pouring into state coffers to help the jobless. A cybersecurity firm following the group reports that Scattered Canary has set their sights on other government-related targets as well.   

Bikes Get Green Light

An app that aims to clear the way for smoother rides for bicyclists is rolling out nationwide. GiveMeGreen!, piloted in communities in California and Indiana starting in 2018, connects cyclists’ smartphones to the technology controlling intersections to make for a safer, smoother ride. GT’s Ben Miller has the details.
