With Saints beat writer Luke Johnson Here's a question a few of us have been struggling to find the answer to through the first four weeks of the 2021 NFL season: Who are these New Orleans Saints? Personally, I figured we had an answer after New Orleans strode into Gillette Stadium in Week 3 and put together a solid win against the New England Patriots. Watching that game, I came away convinced this year's Saints were a gritty bunch who'd win more games than not with a suffocating defense and a pounding ground game. And then, well, Sunday's game against the New York Giants happened and plunged this season back into a place where it seems like there are more questions than answers. So, four games in, our Saints reporters took a shot at answering some of those lingering questions in our first Saints roundtable discussion of the season. Myself, beat writer Amie Just and columnists Rod Walker and Jeff Duncan gathered to give our grades on the Saints through the first quarter(ish) of the season while taking a crack at identifying the biggest issues for the club so far. Just took one last look at the Giants loss, analyzing the Saints' personnel usage with a snap count report. Surprise: Taysom Hill played a lot. And, if you don't have the time to read everything before you make it to work this morning, listen to Duncan break down the Week 4 loss on the Dattitude Podcast on your commute. We appreciate all your support and are doing our very best to bring you the best Saints news coverage and analysis possible. If you are not yet a subscriber, you can do that here — we promise it's worth it. We'll stay on top of everything as it unfolds this week as the Saints look to get back on track against the Washington Football Team this Sunday. Until then, cheers, and have a great day. - Luke |
