James Potvin did the unimaginable. The 9-year-old Whitby boy with autism rode his bike from Whitby to Ottawa with his dad Chris, raising over $10,000 for Grandview Children's Centre.
James is a Grandview Kid himself. He's on the wait list just like more than 3,000 other children and youth with special needs.
"We learned 'we can!'" said James' dad Chris. "This was a big accomplishment because James kept riding one more kilometre. By tackling tiny steps we accomplish great things! That's similar to what it is like to build a new treatment centre or to build up a kid who is struggling. One dollar, one brick, or one step at a time, we can accomplish great things."
James has inspired other Grandview Kids to reach their personal best by taking part in the upcoming RUN AJAX Grandview Kids 1k race. |
