Great Resignation leads to stress for remaining workers

As more people leave their jobs as part of the Great Resignation, the workers left behind are becoming increasingly burned out as they shoulder a greater workload. Some 52% of employees who have lost coworkers say they've been given additional responsibilities, 30% are finding it difficult to get their work done, 27% feel less loyal to their employer and 55% are now questioning the equity of their pay, according to a survey by the Society of Human Resource Management.

Fixing meetings to minimize length, unfocused discussion and unneeded participants is probably a better idea than banning meetings, says Steven Rogelberg, director of organizational science at the University of North Carolina. "You need to do the hard stuff -- changing meetings and the ecosystem in which they sit so they're more effective" Rogelberg says.

Employers are struggling to contain turnover and fill open positions, while employees are questioning their current job and compensation, according to a survey by the Society for Human Resource Management. More than 50% of employee respondents said compensation is the top reason for changing jobs, while executives are divided among several factors, including better compensation, better benefits and fear of contracting COVID-19.

Flying becomes miserable with no relief in sight

Women's handball games can be played in shorts vs. bikini
The International Handball Federation changed its rules to allow women's beach handball members to wear shorts instead of the required bikini bottoms after the Norwegian women's team was fined this summer for the infraction. Men's teams are already allowed to wear shorts.
