Is there a nurse in the house?

Who is the nurse equivalent of celebrity physicians like Dr. Oz or Sanjay Gupta? There isn't one. Despite their expertise, a recent replication of the 1997 "Woodhull Study on Nursing and the Media," finds that 20 years later journalists still overlook nurses in favor of "rock star doctors" as sources.

Depending on the outcome of the November election, there may be a nurse in the house … of Representatives. Registered nurse Lauren Underwood, is running for election in Illinois' 14th Congressional district. She speaks with HealthLeaders' Jack O'Brien about her candidacy.
