Coronavirus: what do we need to know?
Monday 30 March, 7pm–8.30pm
Kings Place, London

The spread of Coronavirus/COVID-19 took the world by surprise. Originating in Wuhan, China, the virus swept through the country and has since moved rapidly across the world, currently numbering over 3000 fatalities. From Italy to South Korea and Iran, emergency measures are being taken amid fears of a global pandemic.

The UK now has over 100 cases and the government’s chief medical officer has warned that a UK epidemic is now ‘likely’. The government has announced an action plan for if, or when, the virus has reached epidemic proportions, including distancing strategies to help the NHS cope.

What measures are needed in an epidemic?

Join the discussion with the Guardian’s Sarah Boseley and Denis Campbell, along with Professor David Heymann CBE, distinguished fellow in the Global Health programme, Chatham House; with more speakers to be announced.
