Andrei Burton broke his ankle “a few times,” snapped all the ligaments across his shoulder after landing on a rock from a 5-foot fall, and had a car run-over and break his foot (not part of the competition). But none of that stopped him from becoming a world record-breaking bike rider
His mentality: “I never want to give up, never want to get defeated.”
The 30-year-old pro biker got his start at 13 watching guys use their bikes to jump over walls. “It was the first sport where I didn’t understand how it worked," Burton told Forbes. "It’s such a strange and fascinating type of movement. I got hooked.”
Outside of training over 20 hours per week inside the gym and practicing new moves around his hometown of Devon, England, Burton is also a competitor on ‘Ninja Warrior UK’ and has broken four Guinness World Records in mountain bike trial riding (and planning on breaking three more this year).
“You’re going to be better at things you enjoy; riders get too obsessed with reaching a certain goal. The fun element is really important to keep you going.”
And it only took him one try to do this...

The Californian earned 1.2 million airline miles mailing in 12,000 barcodes from Healthy Choice pudding cups (thank you goddess of irony) in 1999. All of this was the inspiration for Adam Sandler’s 2002 existential-downer mega-hit, Punch-Drunk Love.

Man quits job to become full-time Pokémon hunter
A New Zealand man has done what we've all been fantasizing about since Pokémon Go dropped this summer: he quit his job to roam the countryside on a quest to catch ‘em all. Tom Currie, 24, decided enough was enough. “The man” will not suppress a Trainer’s desire to seek the rarest (and dare we say legendary?) of Pokémon.
Armed with a backpack of supplies and smartphone full of Pokéballs, Currie has already captured 90 of the 151 Pokémon in the game. “I wanted to have an adventure,” Currie said. “I have been working for six years, and I was desperate for a break. And Pokémon gave me the chance to live that dream.”
Currie has been encouraged by friends, transport companies offering to get him to remote parts of the country, and even his supportive (yet naive) mother, who says, “His nana and I don’t understand the game, but I remember him loving it in his childhood.”
Sure, it’s an unconventional move. But sometimes if you wanna be the very best, like no one ever was, you gotta follow your heart and “understand the power that’s inside.” Pokémon!
