AUCTION FACT... Why did David Bowie have different coloured eyes?
David Bowie has always had a mysterious way about him since hitting superstardom in the 1970s. His eccentric style and pale complexion contributed to this but the fact that his eyes are different colours made his look completely unique.
Bowie suffered from anisocoria which is when one pupil is bigger than the other, making it look like the eyes are different colours. This is depicted clearly in many of Edward Bell’s paintings.
Bowie’s dilated pupil was the result of a fight over a girl.
David and his friend George Underwood both liked the same girl and through jealousy David lied and told George that the girl wasn’t coming to meet him after they’d arranged a date at the local youth club. George was furious and punched him right in the eye! Sadly this nasty injury meant months of hospital treatment and David couldn’t see completely clearly again.
Our timed David Bowie Auction ends this Sunday 1st August at 5pm.
