| Edition 24 | 2024 | | | Dear John Do, | | The City of Hamburg is becoming a stronghold of companies like Traceless Materials, Wildplastic, Cirplus - that are developing alternatives to harmful plastic. Far too often, a "coffee-to-go" is synonymous with “rubbish-to-go” as the plastic coating on the cups prevents them from fully decomposing. "A hot drink in an ordinary cup releases around 25,000 microplastic particles for us to ingest," said Nanda Bergstein, joint Managing Director of Camm Solutions, founded by Christoph Bertsch in 2019. The start-up has come up with a new type of plastic that is water-soluble and biodegradable.
In other news, the container installation for UEFA Euro 2024 is winning prizes, the Startup Factory Hamburg has been launched and the nationwide Hydrogen Week offers free exhibitions, presentations, webinars, lectures and factory and laboratory tours.
