The Awkward Business of Livestreaming Your Sermon

Since the government issued guidelines for limiting gatherings to fewer than 10 people, pastors around the country found themselves suddenly thrust into an activity that was unfamiliar to many of them: streaming their sermons.

Streaming seems simple. Just hit record on your phone or computer and talk. But as someone who delivered a 20-minute talk into his phone this week, I can attest, it’s an awkward affair. It’s difficult to maintain energy and enthusiasm without the congregation’s feedback. And you have to look at yourself the entire time. Talk about scary!

We have two great pieces to help you out. We asked six leaders to share how they’re responding to the current crisis. Read How Are Pastors Handling Ungathered Worship to see their innovations—and frustrations—as they strive to keep their congregations connected. Also, check out How to Lead Online Worship Without Losing Your Soul—Or Body. Happy streaming!
