The Essential Brace creates a seal to better prevent transmission—and glasses fog.
Happening The Essential Mask Brace The quality of the masks we wear to protect ourselves from COVID-19 matters. The gold-standard N95 is in short supply, and frontline workers at hospitals are in greatest need. Sabrina Paseman and Megan Duong, both former Apple employees, realized this when they were coordinating N95 collection for local hospitals in San Francisco. They also discovered that the easier-to-come-by surgical masks many civilians are wearing (often blue in color, you can find them at many pharmacies) can be as effective when properly secured. Paseman, who has a masters in mechanical engineering and years of experience designing and manufacturing Macs, created the Essential Mask Brace to help keep surgical masks snug and sealed—making them safer and more effective. Read more about her design process, and support the project to help get production started. |
