OK! A new year! Let's do this! Happy New Year, dear readers. 2020 was a kick in the pants, 2021 didn't offer much relief, and we're more than a little alarmed that "2022" sounds like "2020, too." But we can't let those anxieties get in the way of a good time, so here's a recap of some of the wild, wonderful, and just plain weird festivities as the planet finished another spin around the sun... CNN's hosting duo Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen shepherded in the New Year in all their usual exuberant and intoxicated glory, starting with a heartfelt tribute to Betty White, the beloved Hollywood icon who sadly passed away on the last day of the year at the age of 99. Several hours and multiple shots later, Cohen launched into a hilarious rant against outgoing NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, yelling "Sayonara, sucka!" as Cooper laughingly held on to Cohen's coat like he was trying to stop his pal from jumping off the podium to go fight the mayor. Meanwhile in New Orleans, their CNN colleague Don Lemon was also very much not sober, and, well, just watch it for yourself. CNN's producers might have been distracted by their on-air talents' revelry, because the network got trolled by some fake Twitter names during the NYE broadcast, including several that should have been screamingly obvious to anyone who's seen an episode of The Simpsons. Yes, "Ben Dover" and "Hugh Jass" had tweets aired by CNN. We're still chuckling about it. Miley Cyrus hosted her own bash in Miami with SNL's Pete Davidson, and had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction while performing. Nothing an unbuttoned red jacket couldn't (partially) fix. Davidson performed a funny bit about how we had all had a great year...in 2009. In Hawaii, video of a stunning fireworks display over the islands went viral, although we're not totally sure it was from this year. Still, New Year's Eve in Hawaii looks amazing. Florida Man didn't let the occasion go uncelebrated. Early Saturday morning, two pyromaniac idiots lit a Christmas tree on fire in Key West at the Southernmost Point Buoy, taking selfies and then fleeing, leaving the tree to burn a large scorch mark on the landmark. Not cool, dudes. Not cool. And inaugural poet Amanda Gorman wrote a new poem to kick off 2022, "New Day's Lyric," and posted an Instagram video reading it. It's a lovely sentiment, and we hope that 2022 does indeed find you all well. In Other News...
