Our mission is to encourage and support writers from all genres, age groups and levels of experience to grow, learn and excel in their craft.

President's Report

Dear GCWA members

Happy New Year to our GCWA community. We wanted to send out a special newsletter to wish you all a happy holiday season, remind you of the venue change for the year and to share a couple of role changes in the committee.
 
I am back in the President role. Sadly, after the December general meeting, the former President resigned due to personal reasons. The committee quickly held a meeting and voted in myself as President and the talented Jen Swenson as Vice President. Jen and I have served on the committee for five years each, so you are in good hands. The committee does change, normally at AGM time, when new passionate volunteers come on board and some of the old hands stay on to lend guidance; however, any changes in roles doesn’t affect the smoothly turning cogs of your hard-working committee.
 
Together we are planning an exciting 2024 for you. The speakers have been inspiring and generous in their sharing of wisdom with us. Our goal is for more workshops; we love to see you all putting pen to paper and reading your stories with each other.
 
If you have any workshop suggestions, let us know. Also keep an eye out for the announcement coming soon for this year’s short story competition. You are going to love this year’s theme, so get ready to start writing.
 
I look forward to seeing you all at our January 20th meeting at the Burleigh Waters Community Centre. Hoping parking will be much easier this year. We loved being in Mudgeeraba but parking issues prohibited us continuing there. So back to Burleigh we go.

Angela and David Photography believe every image is its own unique story, a moment in time consisting of both large and small emotions which are shared between all present, employing technical expertise, years of experience, a flexible approach, excellent communication skills and an affordable rate.
