Dr. Seuss Hummus

By Holly

Dr. Seuss Hummus in containerI never knew hummus could be green and taste so good! I made this when I wanted a nice, fresh flavor and didn't have any of the more the traditional tahini. I think Dr. Seuss would approve!

Reusing Picture Frames

By Judy

A broken picture frame underneath another frame that has had the glass replaced.I had a picture frame that fell, shattering the glass but leaving the frame intact. I decided to save it and repurpose it for something. In the meantime, an inexpensive dollar store frame cracked, but the glass was fine. Both frames were the same size. I discarded the damaged frame and glass, and now put the good glass and frame together. Now I only had to discard one frame instead of both. The picture shows my new wood picture frame and the broken other picture frame.

Command Hooks On Your Laptop

By Monique

Cords and eyeglasses hanging on Command hooks on the side of a laptop. At the end of every day, I pull out the cable from the laptop then try to find somewhere to keep it until the next day. After I put the two self-adhesive-backed hooks next to each other on the left-hand corner of the closed lid, now this simply and safely stores the laptop cable and my glasses.

I gave him additional ones that I had from some linens I had bought previously and couldn't bear recycling. I knew they could be up-cycled as something else!

Getting Rid of Sulfur Smell from Water Heater
In December we replaced a water heater that was 30+ years old. It hadn't broken, but being that old we felt we should with a houseful of company for the holidays. After a couple weeks, we began to smell the rotten eggs smell. At this point we were leaving the house for the winter so we decided to wait till we returned.
Vintage Sears Kenmore Sewing Machine Won't Sew
I have a vintage Sears Kenmore sewing machine (no. 158.17032) that I've been using for almost a year now. It's in pretty great shape despite not having been oiled in a while and was working wonderfully up until yesterday.
