Regresarás – You Will Return. Parental child abduction is a human rights issue that is eons old, but it is widely misunderstood and urgently important. A child’s connection to their left behind family is jeopardized when a child is taken; fragmentation of culture, loss of language, social connection and community may all result from a parental child abduction. The action violates numerous rights of the child and can cause severe psychological and emotional trauma for both the abducted child and the parent left behind. This exhibit examines the true costs of parental child abduction, which is most often treated as a civil issue rather than a criminal offense. The work of participating artists provide entry points for conversations within families and communities, who are too often complicit in abductions rather than active agents for effecting solutions. Personalismo – the values of respect, honor and courtesy underlie this exhibit which seeks to raise public awareness and to simultaneously stimulate dialogue and healing for affected families. The artist featured in this exhibit are; Tony Diego, Izzy and Paloma Lozano, Josiah Lopez, Christine O’Dea, Alicia Cardenas, Justin Maes, Azul and Sheila Olsen, Siri Martinez
