Independence Day ~ July 4th, 2020

The Jackson County Democrats celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day, and the 169th Anniversary of

The Democratic Convention in Salem, Oregon on July 4, 1851, in which they established the permanent organization of the Democrats in Marion County.

Resolutions of the Convention included:

Political parties are inseparable from a free government
The only natural division of parties in this country is that which has existed since the contest between Jefferson and Adams under the names of Republican and Democrat and Federal or Whig

…Democratic principles are as applicable to Oregon as to any portion of the nation
