Gemma is a Grade 12 student and passionate feminist from Vancouver, BC. She decided to do her senior research project on period poverty, and what it means to women and trans men around the world. She developed a plan to make a difference locally, and with the help of London Drugs, she created menstrual hygiene kits and delivered them to women’s shelters in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. But she realized that raising awareness was another important part of the solution, so she spoke to her classmates, put up posters, and collected donations and started conversations to help break down stereotypes and stigmas around menstruation. |
