'Wear a Damn Mask' Florida Senator Marco Rubio had some blunt advice for Americans about preventing transmission of the coronavirus. Chatting with reporters after a GOP lunch, Rubio said, "Everyone should just wear a damn mask, like you guys are, like I am right now." Florida Democrats Get Big Favor...From Trump? Florida Democrats have racked up a huge lead over Republicans in mail-in ballot enrollments, and the Republican president is part of the reason why. With Trump's frequent attacks on mail-in ballots, his own diehard supporters are souring on the idea, all the while Democrats have been dedicating significant resources to encourage their base voters as well as new or infrequent voters to sign up to vote by mail. The result: Florida Democrats are outpacing Republicans in mail-in ballot requests by more than 300,000. In 2016, Trump won Florida by just 112,911 votes over Hillary Clinton. In 2018, three key statewide elected offices were decided by less than than 40,000 votes -- one by less than 7,000 votes. Needless to say, Florida Democrats were feeling lots of sunshine about this news. 'Better to Be a Punk Than a Hack' Never-Trumper (and husband to Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway) George Conway and Geraldo Rivera got into a heated Twitter back-and-forth over Trump's response to the coronavirus pandemic. Conway tweeted criticism of Trump, and Rivera fired back, calling Conway "a punk," adding that he was "rooting for the f***ing virus." Conway spat back that it was "better to be a punk than a hack." That wasn't the end of it. Doctor, Doctor CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta was beyond frustrated with America's response to the coronavirus pandemic in an appearance on New Day, expressing his disbelief at the reluctance to pursue even "Band-aid" solutions, like wearing masks. "We've got a patient bleeding out in front of us, we know what to do, and we are not doing it, and it is...yeah, it's frustrating for sure." CBS Reporters Stick Up For One of Their Own After Kellyanne Conway took a swipe at CBS's Weijia Jiang in a comment questioning her courage, Jiang's colleagues came to her defense. It all started a few months ago, when Jiang asked Conway about a White House staffer who referred to the coronavirus as the "Kung flu," which at the time Conway denounced as "highly offensive." Fast forward to June, when Trump himself used the term again at his rally in Tulsa, and Conway was stuck having to figure out how to defend him -- which she did by telling Jiang she "lacked the courage" to identify which White House staffer said the comment originally. Jiang's fellow CBS reporters were not having it, and several tweeted very vocal defenses of her. More Foot Stomping From Trump A Fox News commentator criticized Trump's photo op at a Washington D.C. church Thursday morning, and the president was bitterly unhappy that none of the network's other contributors came to his defense. "A @FoxNews commentator just ripped me with lies, with nobody defending," he complained on Twitter. It was 10:30 in the morning on a Thursday. Sammy Hagar REALLY Wants to Resume Concerts Former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar has had enough of the coronavirus -- and the economic devastation it has caused the music industry, telling Rolling Stone that he was willing to get back on stage even before a vaccine was available, and would "rather personally get sick and even die, if that's what it takes" to get the economy moving again. 'Just Plain Bad News' CNBC host Jim Cramer had some sobering comments about spiking rates of coronavirus infections, saying the trend is “just plain bad news for everything that depends on reopening the economy.” 6.5.0 |
