Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays—not just because I love dressing and turkey, but because I’m reminded to stop and appreciate what’s really important, starting with family. After months of lockdowns and separations, I’m especially thankful to be able to gather with my momma and some of our loved ones around the table once again. I’m also thankful to live in the best country on earth, where everyone is free to pursue the American Dream because of the brave men and women who have risked everything to keep us safe. And, as always, I am thankful for the honor of serving as your senator—for the greatest state there is! There’s a lot of negativity in the news—and in the world—today, but the truth is we all have things to be thankful for. Whatever blessings are in your life, I hope you take a moment to celebrate them this week with the people who matter most. This week, I talked about how those experiences shaped my views on education, police reform, Opportunity Zones, and more in an in-depth interview on PBS’s “Firing Line.” Click to watch the full interview Championing Financial Literacy I also joined Axios this week for a conversation on financial literacy. It wasn’t until my 20s that I realized the value of financial literacy, particularly for those living in underserved communities, like the ones I grew up in. Now, it’s my goal to make sure all Americans — no matter their income — are able to take part in our financial system. Click to watch the full interview Sincerely, |
