Harbin Will Open For “Daylight Visits” By February! |
|
Dear John,
We would like to wish you a happy and healthy 2019, and want to share some news to perhaps brighten your New Year a bit more. Harbin’s pools will soon be open for soaking! Most of our other permanent facilities are still unfinished (some are not even yet begun), and our grounds are still a bit rough and wild – but we want to open Harbin’s beautifully improved pools to our cherished guests as soon as possible. And so after more than three years of closure and uncertainty, we are humbled and pleased to let you know that Harbin’s soft opening is imminent.
By the end of January, Harbin will begin offering “Daylight Visits” to a limited number of guests who reserve space online in advance. A Daylight Visit reservation will allow you to check in any time from 7am-3pm, and enjoy Harbin from 7am-4pm, when the entire property will close each day. (We will begin offering Overnight Visits at a later date.) PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THE EXACT OPENING DATE ISN’T SET YET, AND RESERVATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET. But they will be soon – and we’ll let you know exactly when in our next emailed newsletter, and through Facebook and other media.
The purpose of today’s newsletter is tell you in advance about some very significant changes to our guest admission procedures and policies – including some changes that you MUST be aware of before you come here. |

Online reservations will be required.
Harbin’s past policies of allowing unlimited numbers of guests and around-the-clock entry are simply not practical during these first tender steps of our reopening process. For the foreseeable future, Harbin will have limited and variable operating hours, facilities, services, and staffing; and we occasionally will need to close select areas, or even our entire property, for periods of construction. The only way to ensure that you will be admitted to Harbin when you arrive, is to have made online reservations in advance. We understand that this is a significant policy change, and we don’t make it lightly. But we believe it is wise, to help us ensure that everyone who comes to Harbin has a comfortable visit. After we are better able to assess the impact of visitors on our new systems and facilities, it’s possible this policy may change. |

Prepaid deposits and new Memberships will be required.
When you make your first online reservation, you will initially be prompted to purchase a new Membership (and everyone must do this – even Lifetime Members, and everyone else who had a current Membership at the time of the Valley Fire). This process will enter your current information into our new system: please enter the legal name that’s on your photo ID, and bring that same ID with you when you visit. If you had a valid Membership at the time of the fire (9/12/15), we’ll refund this new payment when you check in at Harbin for your first visit, and we confirm your old Membership on our pre-fire roster. (If your old Membership had lapsed at the time of the fire, or you’re now becoming a Member for the first time, there will be no refund.) This initial online reservation and all future reservations will also include a pre-paid deposit in the amount of your first day’s total charges (your Day or Overnight pass, plus any Membership charge). These deposits are 100% refundable with at least 48 hours notice, and 50% refundable with at least 24 hours notice. Reservations must be made online, but all reservation changes or cancellations must be made by telephone from 9am-5pm: 707-987-2477. |

Harbin’s hours, services, and activities will initially be limited.
When Harbin first reopens, it will be to a limited number of guests, and for pre-reserved Daylight Visits only: there will be no Overnight options. The purpose of this period is to help us evaluate how many people Harbin’s new facilities can handle, and give us time to make any needed adjustments or changes. When we do begin offering Overnight Visits, guest numbers will continue to be limited, because our facilities will be limited: only our Overnight Tenting areas and 15 Grove Cottages will be available (until at least summer, when we hope to open 15 Domes rooms as well). We will also initially have limited guest services. Our beautifully restored and improved clothing-optional Mainside Pools, Sundeck & Sauna will of course be available, as will hiking on a reduced portion of our roads and former trails. We will also have coffee and prepared foods for sale at our outdoor Café, and massage and aquatic bodywork services offered through our Health Services office. But when we first open, food service hours and menus are likely to be limited; and for a while at least, there will be no yoga, movies, dances, or classes. |

But Harbin’s prices will be familiar!
As you can see below, the rates for Harbin’s upcoming Daylight Visits are close to our rates before the fire. And when our reservation software does become active (please remember, it isn’t yet!) and you are able to begin making reservations, you’ll find a $5 daily discount automatically applied to these rates, as our encouragement for you always to book online. Harbin Rates M-Th F-Su, holidays Dav Visits $25 $35 Individual Membership $10 for 1 month $30 for 1 year $300 for lifetime |

Please watch for our next email.
This is a tremendously exciting and busy time for us, with so many disparate details all coming together at once. But we are confident in announcing that – barring any other calamitous acts of God – Harbin will be open for pre-reserved Daylight Visits by February. In our next email, we’ll announce the specific opening date, and also let you know exactly when you can go to our new online software, and begin making the required reservations that will allow you to visit. And until then, Happy New Year – and we look forward to seeing you soon! |
