Hartwell pet food plant means S.C. jobs

Nestlé Purina celebrated the grand opening of a new pet food factory in Hartwell, Ga., on Monday. Company officials said the plant brings 240 jobs to the plant and a representative of Nestlé Purina said about a third of the new hires are driving across the lake from South Carolina.

Duke Energy is expanding a campaign to protect its nearly 8 million customers from utility-impostor scammers. The company, a founding member of Utilities United Against Scams, is reminding customers of tactics used by scammers to steal their money.

Solar energy center open in Aiken County

NextEra Energy Resources announced Monday its Shaw Creek Solar Energy Center has begun operations. The 560-acre solar energy center is about 15 miles northwest of Aiken. It took 10 months to build, with more than a dozen Aiken-area vendors providing crews and materials to build the facility.
