Harvest Update: Corn and Soybean Progress Ahead of Average
 
Last week’s rain showers didn’t keep farmers from jumping ahead of schedule in the fields. According to USDA’s crop progress report, 45% of corn and 62% of soybeans have been harvested so far. That compares to 43% and 60%, respectively, at this time last year.

U.S. corn delivered to Asia is priced 30¢ higher than Brazil’s corn, which means a corn rally will be difficult until the price differential comes more in line. Soybeans have more opportunity moving forward. USDA lowered yields again, and if ending stocks are realized, it would be the tightest carryout since summer 2016.
