Has LSU found its postseason pitching?

It's been well known for a long time that the LSU baseball team needed to find someone besides Paul Skenes to give the Tigers quality pitching performances.

If you can't have Skenes on a particular day, maybe you can channel him through his glove.

Thatcher Hurd borrowed one of Skenes' gloves (Hurd's broke recently) for his start Wednesday in LSU's SEC Tournament opener against South Carolina. Did a pretty good impression with it, too, as he and Nate Ackenhausen (with a walk in between by Sam Dutton) handled the Gamecocks in a 10-3 victory.

The win should lock up a top-eight national seed for LSU if the Tigers didn't have it in the bag already as their record moves to 43-13 overall. No. 3-seeded LSU moved on to face No. 2 Arkansas at 4:30 p.m. (4:30-ish, it's the SEC Tournament, after all) Thursday. The Razorbacks had to battle into 11 innings before edging Texas A&M 6-5.

We've also got a photo gallery for you from the LSU-South Carolina game, because we know Tiger fans can not live by words alone.

The LSU women's basketball team is headed to Washington on Thursday to be honored at the White House for the program's first-ever NCAA championship won in April.

Just LSU. No Iowa. Of course, after First Lady Jill Biden suggested that both teams get to go, we wonder what the atmosphere will be like. LSU has a chance to be right back there next year and is the odds-on favorite to repeat as national champion.

But that's a long time from now. There are more pressing sports to attend to, like the LSU track and field teams in the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida. The Tigers advanced three athletes to the NCAA Championships on Wednesday. We also have a feature on one of LSU's top sprinters, Godson Oghenebrume.

Well, that's all for today, folks. If you broke your baseball glove, we would lend you ours. Honest.

Until next time,

Scott Rabalais
