Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Wednesday, Feb. 8. Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has received permission to visit the New Orleans Saints and could be in town as soon as Wednesday in what amounts to a free agent visit. The Raiders intend to move on from Carr this offseason and have allowed him to seek out possible trade partners. The Saints appear to be in the driver's seat as they are the first time to earn a visit from the former Pro Bowler. Saints head coach Dennis Allen drafted Carr during his three-year coaching stint with the Raiders. Stay tuned on this one. Meanwhile, they say all is fair in love and war -- and apparently, NFL staff procurement. One day after we learned that former Saints head coach Sean Payton was trying to poach highly regarded offensive line coach Zach Strief comes the news that he has targeted three more Saints assistants as potential candidates to fill out his new coaching staff in Denver. That's it for today. We'll have more Saints coverage throughout the week. Until next time, Jeff Duncan |
