When he was hired at B.C. Rain, Kendall Forde says the band program was almost nonexistent, with a volunteer working with the students after school. “It had its challenges, but the students taught me a lot about pride and continuing on,” he says. He was inspired by “seeing them come every single day and want to do more,” despite a lack of curriculum, barely usable instruments, and uniforms that were nearly two decades old. Forde found a way to make it work. “My job is to make sure these students have the best experience. I’ll do my absolute best because they deserve it.” Here's how Forde built an incredible band program. |
