This week, I’ve been dispelling a lot of myths and dumb ideas about entrepreneurship and coaching. And today, we get to talk about one of my all time favorites… “If you don’t have something COMPLETELY new and insightful to offer, you’re not a “real” entrepreneur.” Some would even go as far as to call you a “fraud”. Personally... I find this hilarious. Because, with the exception of scientists on the cutting edge of AI, physics, and space travel… ...There is almost nothing new under the sun. Personal trainers and fitness coaches will generally give you the same exercises, diet recommendations, and workout splits… There might be a few minor variations here or there, but the gist is always “Lift weights and eat the right number of calories for your goals”. You could go to 100 different financial advisors and hear the same story over and over again… “Spend less and invest more in blue chip stocks” They might disagree about how you should invest, but the general principle will always be the same. You can hire every landscaper in the country to come and cut your lawn and, I promise you… All of them are going to do it in more or less the same way. Heck, even my book The Perfect Week Formula was basically as if I took the Bible, Stoic philosophy books, my mentor Mark Ford’s blog, and my client’s success stories and put them all in a blender… (Note: Just FYI … I would never literally put the Bible in a blender!) The lesson here is that there is nothing new under the sun... Yet so many entrepreneurs still struggle with imposter syndrome because they don’t believe their offer is “unique” or “new” enough. ...The thing they’re missing is that their offer itself doesn’t NEED to be unique or new. It just needs to solve a specific problem for a specific audience. For example… My buddy Vince DelMonte runs a 7-figure mastermind and coaching program helping fitness coaches scale their online businesses… ...And he’s helped thousands of men and women all over the world break free from the rat race and build their dream business doing work they love. Now I love Vince. He’s a family man, father of 3, and a rockstar entrepreneur with a heart of gold. We’ve known each other since 2007 and he’s joined just about every coaching program, mastermind, and program I’ve created. Back in the day he even brought his entire family (including his father and sister-in-law) to one of my coaching workshops to help them map out their perfect lives. And every month I visit Vince in Toronto to spend a day with him and his family at the amazing dream home they built last year. But here’s the thing… That (multiple) 7-figure mastermind that Vince runs? It’s basically just a “rip off” of what Bedros and I have been teaching for years. He’s even taken my best social media strategies, renamed a few, and teaches them to his clients. Now sure, Vince has his own unique tricks and stories and strategies. But 85% of what he teaches he “stole” from me (even though I stole most of what I teach from Mark Ford, Yanik Silver, Dan Kennedy, and Matt Smith). And there’s NOTHING wrong with this. Because that’s just how business works. You don’t see Nike suing Adidas because they “stole” the idea of athletic footwear. Or Dominoes attacking Papa John’s because they think they have a patent on pizza. With a few exceptions… business is about “stealing” information or ideas from someone else… Improving them, adding your own unique flair, customizing them for your audience… ...And then selling the heck out of them. That’s what I do. That’s what Vince did. And that’s what all of my best clients do. So instead of sitting on the sidelines or feeling guilty because your offer isn’t “unique” enough… Realize that entrepreneurship isn’t about creating something NEW. It’s about solving problems And what makes your business unique isn’t the problem you solve… It’s HOW you solve the problem and WHO you solve it for. Vince and I could teach the exact same thing to the exact same crowd… And some of the people in the crowd would resonate with him… some would resonate with me. The lessons and systems are the same… but it’s how we deliver those lessons and who we deliver them to that makes the difference. So please… If you’ve been listening to that naggy voice in the back of your mind telling you that you’re a fraud and imposter because you aren’t curing cancer or sending rockets to Mars… STOP! Because every second that you waste listening to that voice is a second that you aren’t solving problems for someone who needs help. Imposter syndrome is about YOU. Entrepreneurship is about the people YOU HELP. If Vince had listened to that voice… hundreds of amazing entrepreneurs would still be trapped behind a desk… Working a job they hated for pennies on the dollar and wondering how they were going to put food on the table. Instead, they’re building empires and living the life of their dreams. So please… Stop worrying about being an imposter because you’re teaching the same things as everyone else… ...And instead go ALL IN on the unique way that YOU can offer that value and show up for others. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. To Your Success, Craig P.S. Want my help beating imposter syndrome, getting clarity on your offer, and scaling your business while working less?
