S.C. State Fair in full swing

The 150th edition of the S.C. State Fair is in full swing at the Rosewood Drive fairgrounds. A daily circus has been added to the plethora of activities and exhibits, as has a 150-foot giant Ferris wheel. This year's fair is themed "Prize-Winning Memories" and runs through Sunday. 

Library offers proposal writing class

The South Carolina State Library is offering a free proposal writing class Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. The class is free, but registration is required.

City of West Columbia expands online bill pay

People can now pay West Columbia water and sewer bills, as well as citations for traffic and codes violations, by phone or online. Officials anticipate an online system will be in place soon for payments for business licenses, hospitality and business permit fees.

S.C. Legal Services to use grant to offer more classes

The agency, a nonprofit providing free legal assistance to eligible Palmetto State residents, has received $155,940 from Legal Services Corp. to help improve its use of technology to assist low-income individuals with civil legal needs.

Duke Energy, Anderson County partner on energy storage

Duke Energy Carolinas is partnering with Anderson County to build an energy storage project at the Anderson Civic Center that will be part of the company’s long-term strategy to integrate battery technology.
