EU social partners call for a European Industrial Deal

On 20 March, the European social partners met the EU leaders at the Tripartite Social Summit (TSS).
"The EU can't be a leader in the world without strong companies, but unfortunately, 2023 was another challenging year for many EU businesses," said President Fredrik Persson in his intervention at the TSS. Our newly published Reform Barometer has shown how geopolitical uncertainty, labour and skills shortages, high energy prices, and regulatory overburden have threatened the European business environment. Furthermore, the report has revealed that the EU’s attractiveness
to investors has not improved in the past year compared to our major competitors. Persson underlined, "Europe's industrial resilience is at risk. Its industrial production decreased by 5.7% in January 2024 compared to the previous year. Strengthening the EU's economy is fundamental to achieving our environmental and social goals. This is why we are calling on the European institutions to develop an Industrial Deal to complement the Grean Deal."
