12th Annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast in D.C.
On Wednesday, I hosted my 12th annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill. Our morning was centered on James 4:8 “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” Some people say we are living in the most divisive time in human history — that is just not true. I believe God is bringing healing and unity in America, and this event is proof.
As a person of faith, I was encouraged to gather with South Carolinians throughout D.C. who are committed to seeing healing and unity in our schools, businesses, and government.

The “Climate Emergency”
In the past 20-years, the United States’ global emissions have decreased by 11 percent. Meanwhile, China’s emissions have doubled. Democrats’ obsession with a Green Dew Deal agenda and climate alarmism ignores the reality: Oil and gas production is cleaner in the United States than anywhere else.
This week, my Republican colleagues on the Senate Banking Committee and I sent a letter to Gary Gensler, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In the letter, we criticized the SEC’s lack of transparency concerning a proposed climate regulation that will harm consumers, workers, and the entire U.S. economy at a time when energy prices are skyrocketing.

Bidenomics Aren’t Working
Democrats are working to resurrect their Build Back Broker spending plan while inflation continues to hit record numbers. This is not want Americans want or need. Over 65 percent of voters believe the U.S. economy is in a recession — people are hurting.
This reckless tax and spending plan proposed by the Democrats aims to raise taxes on small businesses to funnel money back to the government. I joined Newsmax this week to discuss the disconnect between the Democrats’ plans and what Americans truly need.

Spilling the #SCSweetTea on Camp Kemo
This week, I am spilling the Sweet Tea on Camp Kemo in Batesburg, South Carolina. This summer camp is giving kids with cancer the opportunity to relax and find community as they battle a challenging sickness. Prisma Health Children’s Hospital opened Camp Kemo more than 40 years ago with a mission to serve patients who are going through cancer treatment.
The bond at this camp is so strong that those who complete their treatment often come back to support others, even becoming camp counselors. Camp Kemo continues to prove that in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, a combination of friends and hope can be a powerful weapon.
Sincerely,
|
