Health center settles whistleblower retaliation suit with $125k payout

Charter Oak Health Center in Hartford, Conn., has agreed to pay $125,000 to three former employees who were fired on the same day more than five years ago after drawing attention to the facility’s handling of a case that exposed workers to tuberculosis.

NIOSH studying PPE storage methods

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is requesting information about the environmental storage conditions and inventory of personal protective equipment (PPE) for federal, state, municipal, county, and hospital system stockpiles. The agency will use the information to design a study in which researchers will sample N95 respirators and high-protection surgical gowns from stockpiles and test the PPE against established performance standards.
