Try asking yourself these questions to uncover the purpose in your life.
Health tips: How to find your "why" | | Dear Reader, Not sure what your why in life is? You’re not alone. Many older adults wrestle with finding meaning as they transition into older adulthood and the final decades of their lives. But uncovering your purpose is a worthwhile exercise that can significantly affect your happiness, health and well-being. Ask yourself these questions to help uncover the purpose in your life — and the best places to focus your energy: What activities make me feel excited, fulfilled or rewarded? When do I feel like the best version of me? What are my natural gifts, talents and abilities? How do I best help others? What three (or five or seven) ideas, actions or events are most important to me? What have I always wanted to try? What activities do I most look forward to each day, week or month? What have I been putting off until I have more time? What relationships are most important to me? Are there relationships that I’d like to make stronger or invest more time in? What do I want my days to look like? What about my weeks and years? Does it feel like something is missing from my life? What is it? If I could do anything, what would it be? Knowing what you want out of life can be a great motivator. So, once you understand your meaning and purpose, use that as inspiration to live your best life. |
