Dear Can Geo Photo Club member, Award-winning photographer, Nikon Canada ambassador, Canadian Geographic Photographer-In-Residence and Royal Canadian Geographical Society Fellow Michelle Valberg has been taking pictures for more than 30 years. Join us on Canadian Geographic’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. Eastern Thursday, May 28 for a live virtual talk with Valberg. Renowned as a wildlife photographer with a particular focus on the Canadian Arctic, during the COVID-19 pandemic Valberg has shifted gears to create a series called Planet Hope, which showcases black-and-white portraits of people living through the virus in Ottawa. Subjects portrayed in the series include health care workers, grocery store clerks, the homeless and other emergency responders. Michelle will speak live with Canadian Geographic digital editor Alexandra Pope, sharing her experiences and expertise in photography, especially under pandemic restrictions. Following her presentation, Michelle will take questions from the audience. To submit questions in advance, please email haggert@canadiangeographic.ca. The event is free, but donations to the Royal Canadian Geographical Society are greatly appreciated. Angelica Haggert Social media editor Canadian Geographic Magazine |
