Marathon, not a sprint: Man gets his steps in during quarantine

For the world’s athletes, our time in quarantine must be exceptionally frustrating. These are people who love to move and need adequate space to do so. But one athlete in the U.K. had a different idea: Rather than wait for the lockdown to end before running a marathon, he’d make do with the limited space in his yard and run the distance anyway. James Campbell, a former professional javelin thrower, decided to livestream his 20-foot sprints across his yard until he eventually reached the length of a real marathon. This took him 5 hours to do, but in the process, his livestream raised more than 22,000 in British Pounds for the nation’s National Health Service. If you do the math, he ran the span of his yard more than 7,000 times! But hey, it looks like it all added up in the end.

Why do marathon runners keep doing charitable deeds?
