Dear John,
I have no doubt you’ve been moved by the images from and sheer scale of the crisis in Afghanistan in recent months—we all have.
Forty years of conflict have led to devastating levels of forced displacement of Afghan people, with nearly 3 million people already living in prolonged displacement. The most recent crisis has seen this grow by nearly 700,000 Afghans this year alone.
With many displaced families now living in makeshift shelters with minimal protection from the elements—winter poses a new threat to their survival.
Temperatures can drop well below zero in Afghanistan, with up to a metre of snow falling in some areas.
For thousands of displaced families sheltered from the cold by only a few millimetres of canvas or plastic sheeting, there is no time to lose.
A special gift to provide vital winter supplies can make a critical difference for Afghan families in need. Can we count on your support?
To help an Afghan family get through the winter, you can cover the cost of individual items or an entire kit. Each kit contains vital winter supplies: warm blankets, 3 solar lamps and insulation materials for tents to help Afghan families survive the winter.
Here’s how you can help:
$27 can provide a solar lantern allowing access to practical, affordable and clean energy.
$41 can provide blankets to a family.
$82 can provide 3 solar lanterns.
$123 can provide a family with warm blankets and 3 solar lanterns.
$186 can provide a family with tent insulation materials, helping to prevent heat loss and survival through the cold.
