Editor's Picks With the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program set to expire on September 30, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is urging Congress to reauthorize its funding to ensure continued support to the pipeline of primary care physicians. For many people, regardless of career, the thought of professional writing or public speaking can be daunting. Whether it be stage fright, writer’s block, or something else entirely, people have a multitude of reasons for rejecting opportunities to write for publication or speak at an engagement. HCPro is working on a pair of books, and we need your feedback! The first one is about teaching ethics to residents. Our plan is to develop a handbook that would be a quick, easy-to-read resource for residents, who often struggle to understand how to deal with ethical situations in medicine. We want to know if there is demand for this kind of book and what you would like to see included in this book.
We would also like to publish a new edition of our Graduate Medical Education Office Handbook. Again, we would like to gauge demand for this kind of book and what topics you would like to see covered.
Please email me to let us know. Thanks! Marketing Spotlight Residency program directors, who are full-time physicians themselves, are tasked with splitting their time between teaching residents, practicing medicine, and fulfilling their administrative duties. This book helps program directors make the most of their time by focusing on the issues and topics that most pertain to them and their residents’ needs.
Perfect for both new and seasoned program directors, this revised edition includes tips and best practices for developing a disciplinary policy, measuring outcomes, evaluating residents and faculty, assessing a curriculum, and understanding the program accreditation process and its various components.
