New Group to Help the Retail Sector

A new group established to help Scotland’s retail sector as it recovers from the pandemic has discussed soaring energy costs and the impact of Brexit.

At its first meeting, the Retail Industry Leadership Group also considered how to deliver the Scottish Government’s Retail Strategy and began drafting priorities to help businesses grow.

Adult Disability Payment Opens for Applications Nationwide

Adult Disability Payment opens for new applications across Scotland. The national rollout follows successful pilots in 13 local authority areas, which began in March.

It is the twelfth and most complex benefit to be delivered by the Scottish Government. It replaces the UK Government’s Personal Independence Payment.

The benefit provides financial support to people aged between 16 and state pension age who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or have a terminal illness.

A significant investment in machinery in 2021 continues to create substantial and prestigious contracts for Glenrothes’ Haldane UK, with the manufacturing business completing two major projects in recent months.

The capabilities brought about following the purchase of a 5 axis CNC machine, coupled with its leading craftsmanship, has secured the contracts to manufacture and install luxury timber handrails for Gleneagles Townhouse, in Edinburgh’s St Andrew Square and the new Virgin Hotel in Victoria Street.
