Dear Reader,

The Forward won 32 Rockower Awards (also known as the “Jewish Pulitzers”), proving once again that the Forward is leading the way with the best, most creative and most insightful Jewish journalism.

These awards recognize that we are succeeding in our mission to bring you journalism driven by truth, not ideology.

In a year that rocked the Jewish world — the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, rising antisemitism, unrest on college campuses, an ongoing war in Ukraine — the Forward reported with depth, nuance and care.

Just a few of the exceptional pieces we were recognized for:

  • Editor-in-chief Jodi Rudoren won first place for her profile of Rachel Goldberg-Polin, whose son is held hostage by Hamas. This was one of the numerous awards recognizing the Forward’s reporting on the ground from Israel.

  • “Seeking Relatives: How one newspaper column saved lives, reunited families and changed the course of Jewish history,” by Andrew Silverstein with translations by Forward archivist Chana Pollack, won three different awards for its poignant storytelling of the Forward’s role in reuniting families after the Holocaust.

  • Contributor Lev Golinkin won first place for his five-part investigative series that broke the Canadian scandal of recognition and financial support of former Nazi soldiers.

I’m proud the Forward has been recognized for these stories more. Our members make it all possible. Invest in the award-winning Jewish journalism you rely on by becoming a member at the $36 level or higher.

Gratefully,
