| | Before enrolling at the University of Arizona, Kyra Johnson had never left her hometown. “I grew up, my entire life, in the Navajo Nation, surrounded by Native people.” In Tucson, she struggled with the transition to college life. Then, she found the Native SOAR (Student Outreach, Access, and Resiliency) program, which quickly evolved into her community on campus. This photo essay tells the story of how Native SOAR connects Native students, graduates and professionals for ccultural connection and educational mentorship. |
