Further Funding for Tourism

Two new funding packages worth £15 million will support the tourism sector as it looks to recover from the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Eligible businesses can apply for individual grants of up to £250,000 in addition to a suite of wrap-around business support and advice.

Eat Out to Help Out Starts Next Week  

The government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme starts next week, which enables restaurant customers to save 50 per cent up to £10 per person on their meals and non-alcoholic drinks from Monday to Wednesday throughout August.

Vital Support for Museums and Galleries

A new funding stream for the independent museums sector to help bolster resilience following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been announced by the Scottish Government.

The £4 million Museums Resilience and Recovery Fund will provide support for Scotland’s museums and galleries and will be administered by Museums Galleries Scotland.

New Funding to Keep Scotland Centre Stage

A funding package of £10 million has been established to help the events sector recover from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

Funding streams will be set up to provide direct support to organisers of cultural, community, and sporting events, as well as to supply chain firms facing hardship, to help keep them in business while restrictions on events are still in place.

Phase 3 Continues with Further Indicative Reopening Dates

the Scottish Government has announced Scotland will remain in Phase 3 of the route map out of lockdown due to the ‘fragile position’ the country faces.

However, two sets of indicative dates have been announced for sectors that remain shut as a vital part of the country’s public health measures in tackling COVID-19.

These include the reopening of gyms, indoor pools and sports courts as well as routine eye care services able to resume within community optometry practices and in patients’ own homes

Funding for More Teachers

Funding of £50 million will be ring-fenced for the recruitment of approximately 850 extra teachers and around 200 additional support staff as local authorities plan for the reopening of schools.

People returning to work after coming out of shielding are to benefit from new risk assessment guidance.

The guidance includes a tool which helps the wider workforce to identify how seriously they might be affected by coronavirus (COVID-19), using information about their sex, ethnicity, age and underlying health conditions.

Expansion of services in NHS dental practices

NHS dental practices are to re-introduce a range of procedures, such as the use of drills, on a limited basis.

Now dental practices, if they are ready, will be able to provide aerosol generating procedures (AGP) on patients with urgent dental problems from 17th August.
